Dad and ME Canoe Trip

Dad and ME Canoe Trip

Poker Lakes

3 Days Beginner

What To Expect

Three days on the water with just you and your kid. No agenda beyond paddling, fishing when the moment feels right, and letting the rhythm of the lake set the pace. The Dad & Me trip at Poker Lakes is designed for fathers and their children to disconnect from everything else and simply be together.

Your days unfold naturally. Mornings might start with mist rising off the water as you paddle out to a quiet bay. Maybe you cast a line, maybe you just drift and talk. Afternoons are for swimming off smooth rocks, exploring shorelines, or finding a sunny spot to do absolutely nothing. Evenings bring simple meals, the kind of easy conversation that happens when there's nowhere else to be, and the awareness that time like this is rare and worth protecting.

This trip strips away distractions. No rushing, no schedules beyond when hunger suggests it's time to eat. Just two people, a canoe, and the Ontario wilderness providing the backdrop for whatever connection wants to emerge.

Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1

Day one is about settling in. Arrive at the launch point, load the canoe, and paddle out to your campsite on one of the Poker Lakes. Set up camp together, get oriented with your surroundings, and ease into the slower pace. Dinner is cooked over the fire, and the evening is yours to spend however feels right.

Day 2

Day two has no fixed schedule. Wake when you're ready, make breakfast, and decide together what the day holds. Paddle out for fishing if that appeals, or explore the interconnected lakes and channels. Find a swimming spot when the afternoon sun gets warm. Return to camp when you're hungry. The evening might bring more fishing, or maybe just watching the sunset with a quiet fire crackling nearby.

Day 3

Day three brings the return journey. Break camp after breakfast, paddle back to the launch point, and head home. The trip is short enough that you're back before the week begins again, but long enough that something has shifted. The quiet stays with you a little longer than expected.
