Guided Car Camping Trip Packing List

So you’ve decided to go on a canoe trip — congratulations! Hopefully this will be the first of many.

Your guide will handle everything for you including food, tents, canoes, safety gear, and all the little details you might not even think of. You’ll still need to pack your own clothing, sleep system, and personal items — but don’t worry, we’ve made it easy. Items marked with an * will be available for rent or purchase.

Your Sleep System & Camp Comfort

  • ☐ Sleeping bag* (lightweight, & rated for expected low temps — ask us if unsure)
  • ☐ Sleeping pad* (insulating, inflatable or closed-cell)
  • ☐ Lightweight camping chair* (optional)

Clothing – Wet (Daytime Travel)

  • ☐ Sun hat and sunglasses
  • ☐ Neck warmer or buff* (stay warm in rain, or soak to cool off in heat)
  • ☐ Lightweight t-shirt or long sleeve (synthetic/merino)
  • ☐ Sports bra and underwear
  • ☐ Rain jacket
  • ☐ Hiking pants (layer with long underwear early season)
  • ☐ Wool/synthetic socks (quick-dry are best)

Clothing – Dry (Campsite Evenings)

  • ☐ Sweater or fleece (thicker in cooler seasons)
  • ☐ Long underwear

  • ☐ Wool socks (extra pairs always welcome)

Note: The list includes what you’ll wear on day one (wet/daytime clothing), so no need to double up. Bring clothing that’s lightweight, loose-fitting, and quick-drying. Given that this is a car-camping trip, feel free to bring additional outfits to ensure you and your group are comfortable and cozy the whole time.
