The Role

As a Tripshed Canoe Tripping Guide, you’ll lead groups of all ages and backgrounds on multi-day backcountry adventures through Ontario’s lakes, rivers, and forests. You’ll be the steady hand behind the scenes—navigating wild spaces, cooking over campfires, managing gear and group safety, and creating space for participants to reconnect with nature and themselves.

You’ll need to be a skilled leader, a clear communicator, and a confident problem solver. Most importantly, you’ll be a catalyst for connection—between people, place, and purpose.


What You’ll Do

  • Lead transformative backcountry canoe trips and day hikes for diverse groups

  • Navigate safely across lakes, rivers, portages, and trails

  • Facilitate moments of connection, storytelling, and outdoor learning

  • Plan and manage gear, food, and logistics for each trip

  • Ensure safety, comfort, and group cohesion from start to finish

  • Inspire participants through your passion for nature and wild spaces


What We’re Looking For

  • Experience: At least 2 years leading multi-day wilderness expeditions

  • Skills: Strong group management, storytelling, and logistical coordination

  • Certifications:

    • 40-Hour Wilderness First Aid & CPR-C (required)

    • Wilderness First Responder (an asset)

    • Whitewater Rescue Technician (an asset)

    • ORCKA or Paddle Canada certification (an asset)

    • Bronze Cross or NLS (an asset, not required)

  • Mindset: Enthusiastic, flexible, calm under pressure

  • Other: G-Class (or equivalent) driver’s license & clean Criminal Background Check


What You’ll Get

  • Pay: From $175/day, commensurate with experience

  • Schedule: Contract-based, seasonal (May to October); optional hikes year-round

Contract Length: 3–5 months
Expected Hours: 30–60 per week
Language Requirement: French not required
